Artiste de Papiér
Artist Statement
I create papiér mâché vignettes celebrating women of strong constitution. These emancipated thinkers and achievers are secure in their talents and sense of style; which adds to their charm. Papiér mâché has a sturdy and textured quality, which mirrors the lives of the characters portrayed. I use fashion, location and action to convey cultural ideas. By reinforcing identity through these avenues the figures represent self-confidence, ritual and the spirit of play. My sculptures are a collective of women spanning time and place. I imagine their lives full of adventure and accolades. I choose, through my work, to give reverence to women of substance.
